WARM UPS:
Warm Ups get right to business:
they exclusively focus on
basic scales and chord inversions
in one of the key signatures
(Major & its relative minor).
Warm Ups are the same in each key
therefore can be memorized,
strengthening understandings
of aural transposition
as new Warm Ups are learned.
Warm Ups are successful complimenting
Etudes 1 and 2 in the same key,
and also a critical foundation
when students use
other technique books
of any variety.
They are also a fun learning tool
of scale and chord understandings
for exam preparation.

ETUDE 1:
Etude 1
is an impressive piece
specifically designed to extend
scale and chord basics
of a major key and
its relative minor
to a short solo.
Etude 1 in each key
allows the performer
to anticipate the patterns
and focus on transposing
the key signatures.
Students enjoy Etude 1
with their creative preference of
technique, expression and tempo,
and have played Etude 1
in their favorite key
as both warm-up and solo.
|
ETUDE 2:
Etudes 2 are stylistically diverse
and less predictable than Etudes 1.
This requires performers to apply
key signatures without being able
to anticipate the pattern.
Etudes 2 are still specifically designed
with scale and chord basics
of one of the major keys and
its relative minor,
however challenge the performer
to apply their knowledge of key signatures
and add expression and dynamics
to create a unique solo.
