MAY, 2009

My Diary – May 2009

1st May 2009: The two communities of Bobo & Nasso went for a picnic to Banfora. We visited the family of Sr. Marthe & after that we went to the waterfall. The climb was really tough. We bathed in the cool waters.

9th May 2009: We sisters working in the Foyers & Centres of Bobo went for a picnic to Tousiana. We visited the sisters there. We also visited the cajunut & mango drying factory which produced tons of packets. We had lunch near the artificial lake.

16th May 2009 : Its amusing to see how our two cats, the white one - Mimo male behaves so lovingly with Pussy the grey one – female & she allows herself to be loved. 18th May 2009 : Every Friday the novice Georgette from Missionaries of Africa comes to help us. She gives catechism class to the catholic girls. She really does a good job. We have classes in “Grounding into the Faith” too. Our youth need a lot of this as their faith is weak. They are very much influenced by the muslim & the traditional religion of the ancestors. Christianity has come to Burkina Faso just 80 years ago.

23rd May 2009 : Once a month we have the meeting of the members of the Molavim. Severin in yellow is our cook. He is the vice President. He is chosen to go to Portugal for the general meeting of members from all over the world. We have prepared his passport & the visa is getting ready. Dominique gives them the formation.

24th May 2009 : We celebrated the feast of St Vicenta Maria the foyer & Centre together. We began with the Eucharist. Fr André Ouattara preached really well & we felt a strong bond of togetherness. After the mass we invited the guests to have some snacks to celebrate our joy & in the afternoon we had lunch with the girls of the hostel In the evening we had a long programme of songs, dances, skits on the life & works of St Vicenta Maria, and a quiz competition on her life. It was a day filled with joy, love & peace. However I was exhausted to the bone & that night I got a small stroke. I had to be rushed to the clinic & the two sisters of my community Christa & Bea had to run around in the middle of the night to get the results of the tests etc. We celebrated the real day of the Feast of St Vicenta Maria in the clinic.

27th May 2009 : We have a canteen & supply afternoon meals to girls who are poor & live far from the Centre & cannot afford a meal. We have twenty girls who stay on after the literacy classes in the afternoon. One lady cooks the meal. The food is wholesome & in plenty. For most of the girls this is the only square meal they eat for the day. Since they have 3 to 4 hours free, they do some craft work. At present we are making beads out of paper & then necklaces & little bracelets.

Please pray that the Good Lord give me the grace and strength to persevere in my mission.
God Bless You.

Sr. Margaret Correa
