My Diary – April 2010

6th april 2010: I continue with my visiting. Some people live in decent houses but most live in mud huts with a mud floor. They do their cooking outdoors.

1st April 2010: Maundy Thursday. We began our Triduum. The Gospel of the washing of the feet was enacted. We had a delicious dinner of lamb. Wine was abundant. Monique, Léontine & Margueritte joined us. Then we had the adoration from 22.00 to midnight. Margaret animated the first hour & Christa the second. The alter was beautifully decorated.

Good Friday. Margaret puts us in an atmosphere of prayer by decorating the chapel according to the event in a very creative way. We had the stations of the Cross in the parish where the cross is carried on the street from 13.00 to 15.00. It ended with the novena to the divine mercy. The evening services were solemn. The kissing of the Cross & communion took long as the crowd was huge.

3 April 2010: Holy Saturday. We had a prayer at 11.00 entitled ‘Silence with Mary’ conducted by Christa. At 4 p.m. we had the seven sorrows of Mary conducted by Sr. Margaret.

9th April 2010: A group of youngsters from Ouaga who have Spanish as one of their subjects came to visit us & spent time chatting. A new local liquor bar has been opened just behind our house. There is loud music and noise all the time.

20th April 2010: We went to visit Simplice, our monitor, in order to see his baby Nadine.

20th April 2010: We three sisters went to Bama for the wedding of Bea’s brother Prosper. It was very simple but there were many people, enough food for all.

20th April 2010: After that we visited the home of Celestine. The family loaded us with fruit – papayas & bananas.

24th April 2010: Our monitrice Aimée gave birth to a baby girl. We went to visit her. She is big & tall & very cute. The new born is fully white like Europeans. Only the ears have the colour which the child will have later on.

25th April 2010: The diocese celebrated vocation day with the youth who are interested in religious life. We had games & workshops where the youth spent the morning composing poems, practicing songs & dances & plays. One group presented the life of Marie Vianney through posters. The bishop celebrated the Mass.

Please pray that the Good Lord give me the grace and strength to persevere in my mission.
God Bless You.

Sr. Margaret Correa
